ur nursery consists of two classrooms: Hollyhock and Sunflower. Children enter one of our two nursery classes in the September following their third birthday. In the Sunflower and Hollyhock classes children enjoy learning through play and self-discovery. In the curriculum there are structured and child lead activities to allow children to make their own discoveries and develop a love of learning.
Each nursery class has a qualified teacher and a teaching assistant and the maximum number of children per class is fifteen. The children spend some of the day in their classroom but also make use of our fantastic garden that offers children a variety of activities and equipment to aid their daily learning.
The children also have French lessons once a week and partake in singing lessons with our own music teacher. Ravenstone also offers extra-curricular activities such as ballet, 'mind and body' and Teddy Tennis. For more information please visit http://www.chelseaballet.com and http://www.teddytennis.com.
The nursery classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage which can be divided into 6 key areas of learning:
- Personal Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
