t Ravenstone Day Nursery and Nursery School, the welfare of the children is the absolute priority. We believe in building warm, trusting, loving relationships with each and every child, where individual characteristics, cultural beliefs and religious backgrounds are celebrated and given equal value. The children are provided with an environment which enables them to obtain all the benefits of indoor and outdoor play: feeling safe, enjoying routines, understanding boundaries, exploring surroundings, receiving praise, gaining self-confidence, learning self-expression, making friends. We fully recognise the importance of our responsibilities and are prepared to take serious measures to protect the welfare of a child should the circumstances require it.

We believe that parents are the children’s primary educators and that a good relationship between parents and teachers is a fundamental requirement for happy children and a healthy school. We value open and honest communication between parents and staff and encourage the sharing of different ideas and knowledge. We aim to make parents feel completely involved in their child’s education and highly valued as contributors to the school community.

As staff at Ravenstone Day Nursery, we believe in everyone working together to create a stimulating and challenging environment which caters for the needs and interests of every child. Working in partnership with parents, and following the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) Curriculum, we seek to provide each child with a personal programme for development which is based on a balanced mixture of structured and spontaneous play. Individual profiles document the learning and development of each child through careful observation and analysis. In order to maintain good practice, the staff attend training courses ensuring that we keep up to date with the latest developments in EYFS sector. We value the importance of sharing knowledge but we also respect confidentiality.
